Just a Scrooge would censure Mum’s List, a heart-wringing, distress stricken British tearful, adjusted from the smash hit journal by St John Greene. Rafe Spall does sterling fill in as a West Country widower, left to get the pieces. Emilia Fox is his late spouse, Kate, who lives on as a watchman blessed messenger as her writings and Post-it notes. Chief Niall Johnson takes her scattered life lessons and makes them into a montage or potentially a soufflé. It’s warm to the touch, marginally delicate in the center.
Ardent and totally dedicated exhibitions from Rafe Spall and Emilia Fox are the bedrock of this sweet and frantically miserable British film, taken from the personal first novel by Somerset paramedic St John Greene, about the loss of his better half, Kate, to bosom growth, directly after their young child had himself recouped from a tumor.
